Fwd: [New post] To Give Light

Dear Family,

I really liked this little article on the Abrahamic covenant and the blessings that come from it.  One of those blessings is the promise of being brought to see a great light!  If you are stuck in a darker place, the Lord can bring you to the light and shine light upon you wherever you are.

As I have aged, my eyesight is drastically improved by light.  The Lord's light can improve our vision of where we are, what we can do to bless others, and how we can improve.  Also, take away the darkness and despair in which the Adversary loves to try to drown us.

I also like to think of the people stuck in prison (Helaman 5) and surrounded by a mist of darkness so great that no light could survive.  Nephi and Lehi (unlawfully put in prison for their faith) prayed and were blessed to talk to the angel, and Aminadab was given power to look at them.  Then he was reminded by the Holy Ghost that if He prayed, he might be granted freedom from the darkness.  So he did pray, and was allowed to be ministered by the angels.  So he told everyone else to pray so they could also be freed and able to be part of the light.  Those men weren't necessarily worthy of any kind of experience like that-- and yet, when they prayed, they were granted light sufficient to deliver them and also to lift them to an unprecedented level of happiness and joy.  God is merciful and will hear us whether we "deserve" help or not.  If we're willing to receive help, He's willing to give it!

Helaman 5
34 And it came to pass that the Lamanites could not flee because of the cloud of darkness which did overshadow them; yea, and also they were immovable because of the fear which did come upon them.   ( . . . . . )
40 And it came to pass that the Lamanites said unto him: aWhat shall we do, that this cloud of darkness may be removed from overshadowing us?

41 And Aminadab said unto them: You must arepent, and cry unto the voice, even until ye shall have bfaith in Christ, who was taught unto you by Alma, and cAmulek, and Zeezrom; and when ye shall do this, the cloud of darkness shall be removed from overshadowing you.

Prayer can literally change the night to day!  God can and WILL answer our prayers.  "Seek and you shall find, Knock and it shall be opened unto you."  Having the faith to pray can make all the difference!  So, I strongly encourage each of you to remember to pray-- both outloud-- and then to always be reaching up to Heavenly Father in your hearts.

3 Nephi 20:1 And it came to pass that he commanded the multitude that they should cease to pray, and also his disciples. And he commanded them that they should not cease to pray in their hearts.

See what light will come streaming into your hearts and minds!  You can be set free from any darkness,no matter how great or debilitating.

Much love,
Mom (2) /Lindy
