| Indulgent emotions keep us from moving forward. Things like worry, confusion or overwhelm keep us from taking action.
For instance, when I say to myself, "I don't know what to do," my brain doesn't go to work helping me solve my problem. It doesn't have to because "I'm confused."
The best way to get out of confusion is to ask yourself things like:
-What DO I know?
-What is one step I could take? -If I did know, what would I start doing? -What resources do I have that could help me figure this out? We don't have to know how things are going to turn out in order to get started. We just need to know one step. Notice when your brain wants to stay in indulgent emotions. It can be a comfortable place because we don't have to make any decisions there, right? If I'm confused about what kind of job I want, I don't have to start looking. If I'm confused about what kind of hobby to try, I don't have to get started.
But when we are ready to identify why we feel stuck, we can ask good questions to move us out of confusion, worry and overwhelm.
